There is something intimidating about tons of water falling down a sheer cliff. Multiply that by another 20 or so falls and the symphony of water blows you away.
We started our tour of the Argentinean side by a walk to the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s throat) Falls. The largest and most impressive of the cataratas. You can take a train to the viewpoint walk but we also wanted to see a Toucan. The walking paid off and on the way back we were rewarded with a sighting. Elsa did a happy dance she was so delighted.
The rest of the day was spent meandering through all the walks and being surprised around every corner with another spectacular view of the falls.
My favourite was the lower circuit where we got sopping wet standing in the spray of a powerful downpour of the falls. We had another opportunity to be soaked to the bone when we took a motorboat ride right up to the powerful falls in the river Iguazu.
At the end of the day as the light began to play with the spray we were treated to a clear sighting of a rainbow above the falls.
The sounds of a million drops of water, accumulated with bird calls, a healthy dose of sunshine and green wherever you lay your eyes results in a happy heart.
Creation at its best.
That rainbow is magnificient! You right, creation at it’s best!
AMAZING – I loved Iguassu and that boat trip right up to the falls is a memorable exilirating experience 🙂
