We have arrived in San Ignacio.
Home to the San Ignacio Mini ruins. This was the home of Jesuit Missionaries and the Guarani people in the 1600’s.
They seem to have had a beautiful symbiotic relationship where 2 cultures became one. Beautiful music was conducted, art was a passion for both groups and they worked hard to produce crops.
The Missionaries protected the Guarani from slave trade but were unable to stop the Spanish from destroying the mission stations across South America and today they all lie in ruins only whispering about their past glory.
The buildings must have been magnificent in their day.
