Aka the South African passport and the pleasures of travelling with one.
I get a stamp for every country I enter or exit. It eventually becomes a little bit like a ‘brag book’ or a log of where I have been. Been there, done that, got the stamp.
But…there comes the time when the mamba rears her head and bites you in the bum. We had such an experience recently when trying to fly out of Argentina to Peru.
At first denied entry to the aeroplane headed for Lima, our little team of four (one of the group had already reached Lima ahead of us – same passport, same documents) mobilised and went into action. Each had their job and with quick thinking and a lot of prayer we were finally allowed on a flight the next morning. With limited time between flights, it was a mad sprint across the airport in Lima and we just made it on time to catch our connecting flight to Cusco.
It was nothing short of a miracle that we reached our destination.
